Last week I was invited by the MSSP Oratorju, a local youth community, to reflect and speak about technology, ethics and theology – an event I thoroughly enjoyed! Alongside Dylan Seychell from the University of Malta, and Kenneth Brincat from the Malta Digital Innovation Authority, we spoke about how AI is reshaping our relationship with the truth, and with ourselves, as well as the current state of affairs in regulation and education.
It’s much easier to have such conversations happen within closed-off groups of academics, policy-makers or business leaders. But the fact of the matter is that everyone should be part of the debate, not least because the societal changes AI technologies are already bringing about will affect everyone. Such opportunities for mature dialogue and reflection – especially among young professionals – are vital. It’s consoling to see the local Church set up such an event (alongside the support of APS Bank) and it was a pleasure to have been able to participate in it.
